Barn Diva in Healdsburg does a lot of things right — croquettes to die for, a space so well appointed you want to actually move in and plating so gorgeous you almost don’t want to dig in. Almost.
They also know how to throw a party. I spent this past Sunday with rosé-colored glasses (couldn’t resist) tasting some of Sonoma County’s best and newest rosés at the 3rd Annual Healdsburg Pink Party. I’ll also tell you that until the rosé revolution we’ve been experiencing the last two or three years, I lumped rosé in to the I’m-too-young-and-cool-to-drink-this group I reserve specifically for white zinfandels and butter bomb chardonnays. Alas, I was wrong — and I am even putting it in writing!
Rosés are magical. They are approachable and transcendent. They are fun and easy to drink and as was clearly on display at the Healdsburg Pink Party, everyone likes them. I saw some fresh to death older gents rocking pink Hawaiian shirts and a bit rowdy 20somethings with pink stained teeth…well not really stained, but the point is everyone likes rosé even if they don’t know it yet. For the most part these wines are generally at a price point that you can get your arms around as well — generally $30 and under.
Also on display were arrangements and crowns courtesy of my floral crush, California Sister. Waiters passed lamb sliders on butter buns, savory pork and cabbage tacos plus the famed croquettes with lavender honey and mini BLTs. Gorgeous garden blossoms and sweet succulents adorned tables and tasting bars. Basically it was the perfect setting for a pink Sunday!
All in all, the Healdsburg color parties have always looked to be a blast and the Pink Party did not disappoint. If you can snag tickets to the limited events, you should! Last August’s white party in at Healdsburg SHED was equally as fabulous, though this year’s Fete Blanc will be back at Barn Diva!
